The middle and west part of our province as an example, in cold area in residential area of city landscape design study, explore how the traditional landscape design implementation of dynamic protection and exploitation, eliminate the seasonal landscape limit, in order to adapt to the cold region city construction outdoor landscape design development, combining the landscape design into community construction, form reasonable city residential construction pattern.This paper firstly analyzes the city living environment landscape design research status at home and abroad, and the middle and western regions of Jilin province city residential landscape design problems were discussed, with emphasis on the natural environment and culture of the city were studied, according to the natural environment of study and research, proposed one kind based on the character of natural environment in cold area environment, using the advantage of itself, combining plant selection collocation, color and texture of the architectural modeling design, as well as public facilities and other applications, find out the suitable for severe cold region city residential areas in the landscape design method, used to solve cold region city landscape design of residential area to the occupants and problems, at the same time, city residential area according to the characteristics of cold climate, develop suitable for cold area comedy and sports facilities, so that more people involved, in order to improve the quality of life of residents, let people enjoy the unique natural environment in cold area landscape at the same time, reduce the environment itself with the climate factors of distress, to help residents better close to nature, enjoy the natural gift of the unique charm of.
