With the rapid development of China’s economic construction, the electricity consumption of residential and industrial is growing. In the case of growing demands for the power resources, electric power resource management system becomes more and more important. In the power management system, the transmission lines across the large region, involving a wide range, has obvious geographical features, so combine the GIS technology and transmission system is the development trend. Today, the two-dimensional GIS applied in the transmission management system have been very mature, but has its own limitations, the2d GIS transmission management system can’t provide the users a true visual scene, and the man-machine interactive mechanism is not perfect. Combine the3D GIS technology and transmission line operation management system will improve the system visualization and human-computer interaction mechanism.This paper uses the three-dimensional GIS transmission line management system as an example, discuss the three-dimensional GIS in the transmission of the management of critical technical applications..Main occupation as follows:(1) Study how to process the surveying and mapping results which is3D Graphic of DXF drawing formats according to the requirement of users, and output the results as GIS objects so that correlation the properties and3D modeling. Based on the analysis of the original data DXF file format, using the method of combining the file structure and software, output the DXF file as multiple3D models.(2) Study how to extract the height information of tower from the single SAR image. Extract the height information of tower from the single SAR image can get the attribute information of tower, and also monitor the state of transmission tower in disaster weather such as rain, snow. This paper firstly studies the geometric characteristics of tower in SAR image. According to the geometric characteristics, use two kinds of geometric method extract the height information.(3) Introduce the theory of three-dimensional terrain visualization, and realize the3D scene of three-dimensional GIS transmission line management system, and description the problem of the construction process as well as problems that need attention in the process.(4) Finally, development the three-dimensional GIS transmission line management system under the skyline software, and the various functional modules of the system were demonstrated.
