The steel structure is a rapid-developed structure in China recently, withadvantages including good anti-seismic capability, fast speed in construction, highdegree industrialization and outstanding technical and economic performance from acomprehensive perspective.For the previous decades, many research institutes, colleges and majorenterprises have invested great resources into professional steel structure research.Several of them have developed their own steel structure residential and achievedfavorable technical results. In terms of construction, driven by some large-sized steelstructure enterprises, several pilot residential communities have been built andvaluable experiences have been accumulated. However, there remain problems to besolved.This dissertation firstly elaborates on the concept of steel structure residentialand its industrialization, goes on to historically introduce the foreign and domesticdevelopments in steel structure residential systems, and lastly, points out main factorsthat promotes the developments of steel structure in China as well as obstacles thathold us back.Based on the features of steel structure, this dissertation summarizes differenttypes of slab systems, wall containment systems and structural systems for steelstructure residencies as well as the most updated developments of the field. A detailedstudy in fireproofing and antisepticising has been included, too.Last, this dissertation proposes the industrialization target for steel structureresidencies and concluded on the developmental directions. It is believed that thisdissertation will provide certain reference significance for the future development andimprovement in the field.
