The discharge value of carbon dioxide has been increased sharply, which lead to climate change all around the world. The chain reaction caused by climate change had threaten our human’s living environment. All the countries realized those crises, as a result, they set the goal of reduce the greenhouse gases and keep on researching the development model about low carbon, green and sustainable development. The carbon gas mainly discharged from cities and there is no doubt that cities play the crucial role on energy saving and emission reduction. Residential areas are the biggest functional constitution parts in one city and human’s city living destination, and controlling carbon gas emission in residential areas is important to energy saving and emission reduction as well as to environment improvement. We need consider from the aspect from the city planing and control the carbon gas emission in residential source.This thesis, which combines the research of low carbon energy saving technology in urban community of my supervisor, takes community as object of study; regards design of low carbon in residential space as the breakthrough point; links outer space, traffic system and landscape system together by low carbon design, and puts forward appropriate technology strategy in order to change the separate consideration of plane, landscape and technology, explore impossibility to reduce carbon sources, increased carbon balance and guide low carbon development of the residential. This paper first sum up related research of domestic and foreign low carbon residential to refine and establish the perspective of this study from the research vacancies for low-carbon planning of settlements in the space environment, and then define the relevant concepts in the article. Secondly, conduct a detailed analysis of the theoretical basis of the space environment strategy while resolve the practice of domestic and international representative, and combine both theory and practice to provide a basis for shaping the basic principles and elements of choice in low-carbon urban settlements space environment. Moreover, take space environment of low-carbon planning strategy and low carbon technology strategy as specific instructions to provide guidance for the space environment of low-carbon settlements planning. Finally, take a settlements planning project as example, provides a reference for the collaborative planning of low-carbon space environment from the operational point.
