Energy resource is the material basis and the engine of sustainable and rapiddevelopment in China, however, the shortage in energy supply has become one of thefactors restricting the development. With the raise of the quantity of constructions and therequirement of indoor comfort, the proportion of building energy consumption in the totalsocial energy consumption is growing. Large scale public buildings which burden highenergy consumption per unit area present huge energy saving potential, so energy saving inthis type of buildings is particularly essential.The energy consumption research is carried out in some existing large scale publicbuildings firstly. The monthly and yearly building consumption, types of air conditioningand heating, breakdown of indoor energy consumption and energy-saving retrofits areresearched. The statistics of different types of building energy consumption per unti areaare classified and analyzed, which provide the basic analysis for later energy-saving results.Since emporium buildings consume the highest energy per unti area among the largescale public buildings, the paper sets a model and simulates the annual energy consumptionof a certain emporium building in HeFei by DesignBuilder. The building hourly load,monthly breakdown of energy consumption and total energy consumption are achieved.Comparing the result with the actual bill, the cause of the deviation is analyzed. The airconditioning energy consumption composition and breakdown of proportion are furtherdetected. Then the paper analyzes and compares the effects of energy-saving retrofits inbuilding envelope, air conditioning system and operation control at the base of the model.Studies show that utilizations of natural ventilation,heat recovery apparatus, variablefrequency water pump, proper set of air-conditioned indoor setting temperature andoperative management of the plants can achieve the optimal operation of the airconditioning system. Finally the paper determines the primary and secondary factors of theenergy-saving retrofits through range and variance analysis by orthogonal test andeconomic comparison to give the priority of the measures, which provides a reference forthe building energy-saving retrofits.As the energy consumption surveyed in large scale public buildings in HeFei, the dataand analysis are representative. The energy saving potential and retrofit effect comparison are carried out in a typical building, the results of which provide a certain guidingsignificance in energy-saving retrofits, operation and management for the same kind ofpublic building in HeFei.
