With the rapid development of auto industry,the requirment in cars′quality and comfortdegree is increasing gradually. More and more car manufacturers have been taken sunroof asa standard configuration. However, all moving parts have strict standards in safety andreliability, only passed the test then they can be fixed in the car. Virtual Instrument(VI) makefull use of computer powerful computing functions and break through the restrictions oftraditional instruments in data process、display and storage.This paper designed a sunroof test system based on Programmable Logic Controller(PLC)and LabVIEW,using industrial control technology, virtual instrument technology and networkcommunication technology to test the indicators in sunroof assembly process.Firstly, the structure of this paper about sunroof moving parts test system was analysisedaccording to the test mission. The system framework includes two parts, one is servo-motorpositioning control system and the other is test data processing system.the hardware devicesincluded S7-300PLC,FM353stepping module,servo drive,current sensor,pull and pressuresensor, photoelectric sensor,and there was a overall introduce about them. Besides, thecommunication between Zebra printer and industrial computer was introduced, and thebarcode printing process was presented.Secondly, in order to realize the function of the sunroof moving parts test system, thesystem software was designed.S7-300PLC was programmed by STEP7to control servomotor positioning and collect sensor data,the switch was used to realize the Ethernetcommunication between PLC and industrial PC. The graphic programming languageLabVIEW was used to develop the test data processing program,which realized the storagefile created automatically and the test data real-time display、save and query in theindustrial PC. At the same time,the paper also developed a friendly and intuitive humanmachine interface(HMI), which can help the operators fully grasp the whole running statusabout the test system. Besides, a user management system was designed in order to ensure thesafety of the test data and sofeware. The manul and automatic barcode printing program weredeveloped and the parallel communication between PC and Zebra printer was realized basedon NI-VISA.Lastly, there was a introduction about the specification and characteristic of OPCtechnology, and presented a way to show how to create tags, the process in how to bound thetags to the global variables was showed too. the flow chart presented the process of Datalogging and Supervisory Control Module(DSC) access OPC server. Finally the articlerealized the test data which collected by PLC shared by industrial PC.The equipment of the sunroof moving parts test system is very exquisite,not only had ahigh degree of automation and integration,but also had a friendly human machine interface,and many sunroofs in different types can be tested. The sunroof test system has beensuccessfully applied.
