The maximal difference between modern electric propulsion technology and early electric propulsion is building Integrated Power System(IPS). IPS melts together the advanced numerical control technology, network technology and the new develop of drive and elctromachnic area. International ship building and maritime companies have paid great attentions to IPS.With popularizing the fruits of researches, SMSC (Shanghai Maritime Simulation Centre-a key laboratories of the Ministry of Communication), has been actively developing Multi-mode MERS (Marine Engine Room Simulation) Integrated Simulation System. Recent years, SMSC has commenced the constructing of Multi-mode MERS Integrated Simulation Lab with financing support of the Ministry of Communication. The core of the project is "Multimode Integrated Power System and Electric Propulsion System". The layout of new electrical propulsion simulation lab is foreseeing, which adopts POD as a simulated object. This research is great significance for accelerating to popularize electrical propulsion.This paper describes research jobs involved in the important sub items of Multimode MER Integrated Simulation System, and also supported the doctor fund of the Ministry of Education of the People's Public of China which researched on Dynamic Load Simulation of Marine Electric Propulsion. The project aims to investigate and realize Marine Integration Monitor and Control System in accordance with the new characteristics and trends of the improvement of electric propulsion, and hence to result in more perfect developing techniques for marine electrical propulsion simulators. The paper focused on this task and covered these contents: comparing the traditional diesel engine with the POD propulsion, referring to some new marine control ideas, designing the frame of software and control flow.
