This paper was based on a kind of extended-range electric vehicle, gave thesimulation and testing on the dynamic performance of the developed vehicles.By the comparing to advantages and disadvantages on many different kinds ofnew energy vehicles, it could be concluded that this extended-range electric vehiclesolve the problem of the excessive fuel consumption of the traditional hybridvehicle, but also could solve the problem of the short range of the pure electricvehicle. In a word, it was considered as the best one in hybrid to the final cleanenergy vehicles.Modifying the vehicle that based on conventional vehicle. Firstly, according tothe plans of design, making the selection and design on the key components of thedynamic system and the mathematical calculation of key parameters on importantcomponents, a matching scheme on the dynamic system was proposed based on thecurrent efforts. Furthermore, methods of simulation on the main parts of dynamicsystem were proposed respectively, and a simulation model, based on Matlab/Simulink, which can run on simulation platform of Advisor was modeled. In theprocess of simulation, the vehicle’s working conditions was divided into fivefactors: start, low-speed, high-speed, brake and stop in simulative condition ofECE+EUDC, then a complete control strategy was proposed based on this regard.Finally, made comparing between the result of simulation and experiment.From the result of simulation and experiment, it could be seen that vehicle’sdynamic performance and fuel economy can be conformed to preset objective. Itsaved more gasoline than the conventional vehicle. It can be said that storagebattery, motor, extended-range engine and transmission were working in the bestefficient zone when they met the demand of performance on dynamic and fueleconomy. Through the control strategy, the power can be distributed reasonably,SOC could be maintained in the best zone all the time. What’s more,the selectionof the extended-range engine could meet the demand of range.
