As an important member of the smart grid and the key electrical in the low voltageintelligent distribution network, the performance of intelligent circuit breaker directly affects thesafe operation of the low voltage intelligent distribution network, so it’s widely used in the smartgrid. For the performance of circuit breakers mostly depends on the performance of operatingmechanism, it’s significant and useful to study the performance analysis and optimization of theoperating mechanism in intelligence circuit breaker.Focusing on CM1Z-100Molded Case intelligent communicative Circuit Breaker, theopening and closing process, performance analysis and optimization design of the circuit breakeroperating mechanism were studied in this paper.Firstly, an experimental platform was built to measure of the moving contact angle changewith time in the trip-free state, the tripping force and the contact opening distance. With the CMM (coordinate measuring machine), the actual measurement of the dimensionsof the circuit breaker can be obtained. Through professional modeling software PRO/E, athree-dimensional solid model of circuit breaker was established. Then, the model was put intoADAMS by the interface software MECH/PRO. After that, the operation process of the breakerwas simulated dynamically by the visualization technology of the software.Based on the model, the effect of different factors on operating velocity of mechanism wasanalyzed. By changing the stiffness coefficient of the main spring, mass of parts, position ofcentroid and key axis position of components of operating mechanism, the operating mechanismof circuit breaker was optimized.
