Arm-based Vehicle Positioning Terminal

With the progress of the society and improvement of the economy, the quantity of vehicles keeps increasing, which causes a serial of serious society problems such as more and more traffic-jams, accidents and so on. For the sake of the whole society,we must take measure to resolve the problems mentioned above. The Positioning Terminal of vehicles combine embedded technology, ARM CPU technology, the GPS (Global Positioning System), GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) .It's important for the design and research of intelligent traffic. It provides a new and efficient controlling and managing way for the transport in the modern cities.Through hard work of study on the Satellite positioning theory of the GPS and GPRS communication system, the author proposes a whole solution of the Positioning Terminal of vehicles that depended on the GPRS technology .The project uses the ARM embedded hardware platform and Linux Operation System. The Positioning Terminal of vehicles obtains the positioning data from GPS module, extracts some useful messages that we need, displays them on the screen and sends out by GPRS module. The vehicle management-department receives the messages by networks.The hardware design is comprised of S3C2410A , external circuit,GPS module circuit and GPRS module circuit.The software is designed by the Host/Target development model.At first Bootloader and Linux is transplanted to the ARM CPU.Then the software design adopts Qt for graphic user interface(GUI),utilizes multi-threads for extracting GPS Info and sending messages.At last the compiled procedures are transplanted to the hardware platform.
