Along with the development of modern city, high building is growing and elevator becomes people’sdaily necessary transport. The performance of elevator puts more and more remarkable influence onpeople’s life. So it is a must to improve the performance of the elevator system to ensure that the workingof the elevator is energy-efficient,safe and reliable. What the traditional elevator control system uses is therelay contact control circuit. This control which easily lends itself to faults, maintaining inconvenienceand short life and covers an area of large space, is gradually being obsoleted.In this paper, the programmable controller (PLC) is used to replace the traditional relay contact controland the design of the control system for an elevator of six levels is introduced. The paper introduced thedevelopment of elevator, the classification of the elevator and composition and the basic knowledge of PLC.The design takes the MITSUBISHI PLC as the main controller; the ac induction motor drive system and setchoose control mode are used. In the paper the design is mainly given to the PLC I/O control for anelevator of six levels, the lord drag circuit for communication and double speed elevator, door loop and theloop of safe operation. Detailed introduction is given to the use of GX-DeveloperV7.0software modularprogramming. Design is given to the twelve ladder diagram control of generation, elimination and thedisplay of floor position, opening and closing of the door of the elevator, the generation, elimination andthe display of outbound signal, the generation, elimination and the display of the choosing signal in box,the direction of going up and down, the starting and accelerating and stable running of the elevator whenrunning automatically, braking deceleration etc. At last, software and hardware simulation debugging isgiven to the control system of the elevator of six levels with the use of simple instructions, complexinstruction, and the failure and then the simulation result diagram is given. The operation requirements ofexchange double speed elevator are satisfied and the basic operation function of the elevator is achieved.In this paper the design of elevator control system improves the level of control, and greatly improvesthe convenience and easiness of elevator fault detection and maintenance, and overcomes some humaninterference factors in manual operation, and has achieved good result. Due to the low cost of exchangedouble speed elevator, at present it can be used for carrying goods and in those situations with lowrequirements of speed regulation system and meanwhile it provides the theory basis for high-level elevatorand the control technology of elevator group.
