In the city of Jie Yang, Guang Dong Province, Yang Mei, a common villageonly has a population of3,000at Chao-Shan Region, but with the jade tradevolume accounted for more than half of the world. Under the impact of thepattern of jade industry, which developed from the initial stage of handicraftto monopoly nowadays, it is formed into the unique way of habitation in YangMei Village.Based on the theory of architecture and the in-depth field investigation, thispaper focuses on figuring the existing village and architectural form, andrevealing in the corresponding relationship between the jade industry and theform. Specifically, it analyzes the change of space and form, as a result of thereplacement of architectural function before and now in Yang Mei, whicheconomics leaded by the jade industry. Besides, the author penetrates into theplanning level, on which, the expansion and reconstruction of the villagebrought out the change on space. Furthermore, by the analysis on the jadeworkshop and street stalls emphatically, which two unique districts formedcaused by the functional replacement, the author summarizes the way how aChinese traditional village like Yang Mei of regional culture, to adapt thedevelopment of jade industry modernization, meanwhile, puts forward somestrategic recommendations of planning for the future.
