The Research On Style Protect And Construction Renew Strategy Of Xiaohe Historical Town In Xiaochang County, Hubei Province

With the recent rise of the domestic historical town tourism industry, the study ofhow to protect historical town has experienced a rapid development. However, the scopeof the study has some limitations because of the restriction of the geographical andeconomic conditions, so the study may failed to cover some historical towns which have asmall region or in remote areas or not well developed.Xiaohe town is located in Xiaochang County, Xiaogan City, Hubei Province. It’s60kilometers away from Xiaogan City and12kilometers away from Xiaochang county seat.Xiaohe has a long history and had been called Xiaohexi and Xiaogesi, it has flourished inthe Ming and Qing dynasties and the early Republic China. Xiaohe had once been knownas the "gateway" of Wuhan because of it’s strategic location. In the year2009Xiaohe hadbeen selected to be the historical town of Hubei Province, it reflect significant historicalvalue, cultural value and artistic value.This paper conducted in-depth study of style protectand construction renew of Huanxi Street district of Xiaohe town.Based on the study of existing domestic and international protection and renewalexperiences, this paper studied a number of issues of historical town’s style protect andconstruction renew using professional theories and methods. The first part of the articleintroduced the background and the meaning of the study and defined the related conceptsand research status, then illustrated the results of the investigation of the overall style,building characteristics and public opinions of Xiaohe town. These results providedtheoretical basis for the study. The third part of the article seted goals of the style protectand construction renew of Xiaohe town, established the protect and renew principle,verified the feasibility of implementing and studied the strategic framework of the styleprotect and construction renew of Xiaohe town from the macro and micro levels. The lastpart carried out practical exploration for the strategic of protect and renew of historical town, summarized more realistic, feasible and long-term methods to protect and renewhistorical towns. These methods provided some references for the style protect andconstruction renew of historical towns in Northeast district of Hubei Province.
