In recent years, with the promotion of city energy conservation&emission reduction and"low carbon, consumption reduction" life concept, non-motorized traffic mode was widelyconcerned, non-motorized traffic is irreplaceable in the city integrated traffic system, but thesecurity of non-motorized traffic system is far less than traffic motorization, non-motorizedtraffic safety problem has already become a hot issue concerned by the whole society. Roadtraffic signs as one of the most fundamental safety facilities on urban road, are the silent "roadlanguage", play an important role in road traffic safety system. From the angles of settingnon-motorized traffic signs on urban road to analysis and solve urban non-motorized trafficsafety problem, and then discusses by its reasonable set to improve non-motorized systemtraffic conditions and road traffic capacity of urban road, protect the personal safety ofnon-motorized participants, have important theoretical and realistic significance.The thesis is on the basis of research achievements at home and abroad, in view of theurban non-motorized traffic system characteristics of our country, integrated use the basictheories and methods such as engineering of traffic, traffic psychology, system engineering etc,it analyzes the characteristics of non-motorized traveler, the action mechanisms of trafficsigns to non-motorized travelers and the influence factors of non-motorized system trafficsigns, it discusses the setting and discriminant conditions of different type non-motorizedsystem traffic signs. On the basis of theoretical analysis, it set up the non-motorized travelersdriving and cognitive on traffic signs model, use traffic engineering theory and mathematicallogic formula to calculate the non-motorized system traffic signs location parameters whichaccord with our country’s urban traffic characteristics, and against different uses of objects,give recommended values of the corresponding parameters. Finally, combined Xi’anhigh-tech zone with the set of the non-motorized traffic signs as an empirical study whichdiscusses and certifies the feasibility of the theory and method in this research.
