Reasonable preventive maintenance (PM) is an important way to ensurethe reliability of equipment. With the development of service manufacturingand the trend to more automatic, intelligent complex equipment, the PM actionshould be more professional. Following this trend, many companies turn to theprofessional equipment manufacturing and service supplier in order to get anintegrated equipment service solution, including equipment, professionalrepair and maintenance. Nowadays, with the prosperity of the equipmentleasing market, a new equipment maintenance pattern (leasing maintenance)comes to be popular in the market, which is primarily implemented by themanufacturing service company instead of those using equipment.Manufacturing service has become the new source of economic growth formanufacturing service companies. So how to provide good equipmentmaintenance service to those companies using equipment, as well as to ensure the equipment reliability and reduce the maintenance costs, have become theurgent requirements. And the key point to this problem is that we should makeeffective maintenance strategy according to the practical features of leasingequipment. So, from the view of manufacturing service, leasing equipment is taken asthe object of study. And considering the commons and characters of similarleasing equipments under different working environment, a maintenancestrategy for leasing equipment is studied in this paper. The main contentions ofthis paper are show as below:Firstly, after analyzing of the reliability status of leasing equipmentworking in different environment, a cumulative damage model for leasingequipment is established based on the shock model theory. Statisticaldistribution is used to describe the shock frequency and the damage caused bythe shock, and then the failure status of equipment is analyzed when faced withdifferent external shocks based on the cumulative damage failure probabilitymodel. The model is convinced by the numeric test.Secondly, a periodic PM strategy decision model is established forleasing equipment based on the previous reliability shock model. Under thecondition of long term leasing and combining all costs that are caused throughthe whole maintenance process, a periodic PM strategy is proposed for leasing equipment while comprehensively considering the imperfect effect of PM andfailure punishment mechanism. The restriction between improvement factorand the PM cost is also studied in the model. The model is convinced by thenumeric test afterwards. Finally, considering the decreasing effect of imperfect PM, a sequentialPM strategy decision model is established based on the failure limitationstrategy. The optimal leasing period, maintenance plan and the optimal failurethreshold are all achieved by minimizing the expected total cost per unit time. The numerical results show that the proposed maintenance strategy is practicaland it can provide efficient decision support for the optimization of leasingequipment maintenance. In conclusion, the PM decision model for leasing equipment proposed inthis paper can effectively improve the maintenance efficiency of themanufacturing service companies and provide efficient technical support. Sothe study has important practical significance.
