There is a series of advantages in the Electric power steering (EPS), such as saving fuel, reducing weight, improving active safety, doing well to environmental protection. As the mature of electric control technology and the reduction of the cost, EPS is catching more and more attention. Because of its unparalleled advantage which traditional power steering can not match, EPS takes place of traditional Hydraulic Power Steering System and is applied into new field rapidly. In the mean time, power characteristics research of EPS is becoming one of the central issues of the automotive technology.The rapid development of computer technology and its widely use in mechanical engineering design, provide necessary condition to the technology of EPS. This thesis use virtual prototyping software ADAMS and an excellent numerical calculate software MATLAB which is widely used in car design. Establish vehicle model and joint simulation In the computer, to design a EPS controller which is of low-speed convenient High-speed stability.Firstly, describe development and the structure、working principle and characteristic of EPS. Introduce theoretical foundation of multi-body dynamics, establish Multi-body dynamics model with dynamics simulation software ADAMS, and conduct analysis to Single lane test and "PULL", verify the credibility of the model.Secondly, study ideal form and basic characteristic parameters of power characteristics of EPS System. Compare and analyze the affect to EPS control torque output with different power parameters, combine prototype established, identified the linear induction-type characteristic curve.Thirdly, propose a method which combine ADAMDS and control Software MATLAB to carry out Joint simulation, set an interface between ADAMS and MATLAB, achieve Joint simulation of complex electromechanical system.Finally, establish traditional PID and Fuzzy PID control model in MATLAB and Simulink, and combine with the mechanical system model with ADAMS, conduct joint simulation of mechatronic。The simulation results shows, EPS virtual prototype of fuzzy control is of great robust and handling stability.
