| As the rapid development of Chinese economy, science and technology, more and more automated devices are applied in people’s lives. As a new sales way, vending machines using automation technology provide the consumers convenience. Currently, vending machines have been very popular abroad, but their development in China is still in infancy. It is significant for China’s vending machines development that researching consumers’demand and solving design problems of existing vending machines.Firstly, by analyzing several transformations of retail industry and comparing vending machines with other retail forms, this paper acquires the advantages of vending machines and their important position in the retail industry. Secondly, on the basis of researching and summarizing the development history of vending machines, with the purpose of understanding the different forms and evolutionary processes of vending machines in different periods, this paper analyzes the evolution of vending machines using TRIZ’s evolution theory of technical system. By surveying and summarizing the relevant patents, this paper draws four curves of patents, patent level, performance and profits, and by comparing them with the general pattern of evolution curve of technical system, this paper acquires the current development level of vending machines in China. According to the evolution model of technical system, this paper predicts the future development direction of core technology. Thirdly, introducing the functions of vending machines and understanding the existing problems by the way of questionnaire survey, this paper proposes their solutions using the TRIZ’s contradiction matrix,40inventive principles and the relevant theory of product design. Finally, combining the above conclusions, this paper makes some innovative designs for the existing vending machines and obtains the final effects.By researching on the development and existing problems of vending machines, this paper obtains the design ideas and forecasts the future direction of vending machines. The author hopes that it can provide references for the development of vending machines in China. |
