The rapid development of economy needs a lot of energy consumption; energy problem has become increasingly prominent in the world. Although our country region is vast, energy is a relatively short supply state. In the energy consumption, the energy consumption of buildings accounts for about25%of total energy consumption in the country. Then in the part of the building energy consumption, energy consumption by building envelope accounted for a larger proportion, while the external walls accounted for most of the building envelope. Therefore, the insulation technology of external walls plays an important role on reducing the energy consumption of the building and improving the indoor thermal comfort.Regenerated waste glass pumice is a kind of artificial porous lightweight materials made from waste glass after series process of crushing, combustion and foaming. Regenerated waste glass pumice is an environmentally friendly material with excellent behaviors of no pollution, lightweight, water permeability, water retention, porous, fire resistance and thermal insulation. Because the regenerated waste glass pumice can be regulated gravity and absorption, it can be used in the gardening, water purification, civil engineering and other fields.At present, domestic and foreign scholars have not yet been undertaken in regenerated waste glass pumice as the insulation layer of exterior walls and regenerated waste glass pumice self thermal insulation block wall related research. This paper focuses on thermal performance of the regenerated waste glass pumice used as insulation material of exterior wall in "hot summer and cold winter" zone. This paper completed the following research work:1. Relying on a discoverable building using meteorological data, this paper puts forward simple, efficient method to calculate the sun radiation of the exterior walls in different orientations in each season. And using this method calculate the sun radiation of the exterior walls in different orientations in each season of Wuhan City, the data is required in numerical simulation of temperature field.2. The temperature field distributions of regenerated waste glass pumice exterior wall external insulation, regenerated waste glass pumice exterior wall internal insulation and regenerated waste glass pumice block self insulation wall walls in different orientations in each season were numerically simulated by using the finite element software ANSYS, and the polystyrene board external insulation wall, aerated concrete block self insulation wall and without the insulation layer of the wall as the contrast. The results show that the regenerated waste glass pumice material in the exterior wall has played an important role and the regenerated waste glass pumice exterior wall system can meet the design requirement.3. To establish an office building that use of regenerated waste glass pumice exterior wall system in Wuhan City, and application of sustainable building design software Ecotect to analysis the thermal environment of the building. The simulation results show that the regenerated waste glass pumice wall can reduce the building air conditioning and heating energy consumption.
