With the quick development of Inland River in our country, more and more new technology and methods had been widely used to enhance the level of shipping service, and the computerized construction of waterway and related facilities had get remarkable effect. As the navigation mark of channel, aids to navigation (AtoN) although greatly improved in terms of equipment, but the layout of beacon still based on traditional methods that lack of simulation and comprehensive estimation, what made the AtoN setting is easily to be unreasonable or unscientific, and then influence the safety of passing ships, reduce the navigation efficiency and eventually result the waste of channel resource.To solve these existing problems, a research of the AtoN layout simulation based on the3D scene of the inland waterways was carried out with the application of the virtual reality technology. The paper designed a buoy setting model and established a setting evaluating method, through analysis the influencing factors of buoy setting, to ensure the AtoN get a more scientific reasonable layout and improve inland waterways services, and that model and method had been proved reasonable and feasible.First, build an inland waterways3D virtual reality scene. Based on the analysis of fairway terrain data, this paper completed topographic data extraction, transformation and interpolation, and generated terrain grid data meet the requirements of the OGRE3D at last. In addition, the method of feature model coordinate conversion was researched, and combined with the terrain model and the OGRE3D, the3D virtual reality environment of the inland waterway was constructed.Secondly, construct the beacon layout simulation model in virtual realities environment. This paper analysis the main affecting factors of AtoN layout and determined the quantitative parameters of the factors, and then the simulation model was constructed by that research. What’s more, combined with the affecting factors and fuzzy mathematics, the comprehensive evaluation model of beacon layout scheme was promoted, and realizes the quantitative evaluation method. Finally, simulate the Taiping export channel of Yangtze River through the simulation system designed, realize the3D scene simulation and AtoN layout scheme comprehensive evaluation, achieves the expected effect.This research showed the placement of AtoN in3D virtual reality simulation system has high veracity, can make the buoy set quickly and correctly, and provide the waterway bureau basis for decision making.
