It is the nature of the contemporary consumer culture that, satisfying the diversifiedrequirement of customs by consuming commodities, to stimulate the social economy developing.Consumer culture cares more the demand of differentiated targeted customers nowadays thanthat of mass market during industrializing age. It gradually leads to s a kind of value: One shouldconsume commodities to elevate social status, and take it as the happiness of life. Consumerculture has affected different aspects of people life, as well as first-class hotels.China is in the primary stage of socialism. Its market has special character comparing withthe western one: As a developing country, although some coastal cities have made great economyprogress, china develops generally unbalanced between cities. There is big difference betweenrich and poor, middle class is not strong. Overall, the social environment is not good enough forconsumer culture. Spiritual civilization develops kind of slowly comparing with the rapiddeveloping economy. Commodity is of more materiality than culture property. Consumerdemand is not rich and level is low. Therefore, in consumer culture, we should consider not onlythe diversified requirement of rich to stimulate the market developing, but also the whole socialbenefit to guarantee a stable and harmony environment. Prefer studying carefully the consumerrequirement to guide the consumer, rather than encouraging the traditional virtue of saving. Tosatisfied the consumer requirement as much as possible as long as it benefit social developing.In consumer culture, aesthetic principle is not the main factor anymore of the criteria tojudge the interior design of hotel. Whether the hotel consumer is satisfied, hotel business runssuccessfully, good for the social benefit, are to be the main factor of criteria. Interior designershould not only focus on studying form aesthetic, but also need to get familiar with economy,study consumer behavior, and design warm and comfortable environment accordingly. Interiordesigner should have social responsibilities, encourage design of green, science, and service,create positive cultural symbol characterized by Chinese culture.
