Reinforced concrete bridges are extensively built in Tibet because they are durable, convenient and comparatively cheap. All those bad factors such as increasing traffic, low standards for building a bridge, construction quality, vehicle overloading, natural disasters and natural aging of materials and structures have bad effects on the safety and durability of the existing bridges. Meanwhile, in the cold and dry Tibet which lacks oxygen and has a long freezing period, some rivers contain chloride, sulfate and other harmful substances that will impose a strong corrosive effect on concrete. All these harsh environmental conditions make a very bad and serious impact on the carrying capacity and durability of roads and bridges in Tibet. In this essay, there are mainly5indicators valuing the existing bridges in Tibet:carrying capacity, durability, functionality, economic strengthening and aesthetics. This essay gives comprehensive evaluation and studies on bridges in Tibet surrounding these5indicators and also provides data collected in practical engineering project to verify the method of evaluation provided in the essay. The main studies are listed as follows:1. Based on the existing evaluation methods, this essay adopts AHP and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model and proposes implementation steps2. Regarding the5factors, namely, carrying capacity, durability, functionality, economic strengthening and aesthetics of the existing bridges in Tibet as the basic indicators, the essay confirms each indicator’s weight, and completes the correction of both basic indicators and each indicator’s weight considering impacts of different environments.3. With practical engineering project, the author makes reinforcement outlines, then makes comparison and finally comes to the optimal solution. Afterwards the evaluation result came into being with the assistance of application software to bring forth the reinforcement system of existing reinforced concrete bridges in Tibet.This essay has a positive and practical influence on Tibetan bridge Management Department to scientifically apply the comprehensive evaluation indicators for existing reinforced concrete bridges, make sure of their safety, save construction funds, accelerate the pace of road construction, and improve the management quality of Tibetan roads and bridges.
