The Research On The Design Of University Students Center

With the development of social economy in china, the demand of talented people is moreand more urgent. These talented people now are required to maintain not only goodprofessional knowledge but also have good capacity of communication skill, executive ability,creativity, team cooperation, and social adaptability. As a result of that, the Student Centerbecome an important campus building in universities that provides sorts of activities forstudents, and plays a crucial role for students of all-round development to fulfill therequirement of modern society.In my thesis, after the study of the concept of higher education and the behavior andcharacteristics of college students, I try to create some kinds of spaces for the student center inuniversities that meet the needs of various students activities, and produce some specificsuggestions to improve the student center in architecture.My paper is in five chapters:Chapter1is the introduction. In this chapter I will further descript the background of mythesis, my aim and gist, related research, as well as the structure of my study.Chapter2is about the related theoretical research. First is the introduction of the conceptof "learning community" and the study about the intercourse space for college students, whichprovides interdisciplinary approach for my thesis. Then comes an analysis about the currencyof the student center in china and the trend of what it will be in the future, which is based on aseries of study about the history of such buildings in China and abroad.Chapter3is about the location planning. I make a detailed study about the planning ofthe student center in campus including the locations, architectural scales, and constructionmethods.Chapter4is the design of the student center in different situations and requirements,which is also the kernel of my thesis. Firstly, I identify the specific programs of this kind ofbuilding. Secondly, after the study of space of the student center, I will make some functionaladvice in special design. Finally, I make an intensive study of the variety of different space ofstudent center including both the public space and functional space, and make individualstrategies based on different cases.Chapter5is about the forms. I analyze amounts of student centers in multiple angles ascase study, in order to give a direction of the forms. And I also involve ways of designing theouter space for student center.
