On the premise of meeting the load demand by the electric power dispatching center and the optimal distribution of load among Power Plants, reducing coal consumption is significant in reducing the power supply cost and increasing the competence of Power Plants. The more important result is that the quality of grid power supply can be improved. This is important to ensure the safe, stable and economical operation of grid. Considering the angle from both economic aspect and social significance, reducing the coal consumption has far-reaching and practical significance.Coal-fired units are selected as the research subjects, and the strategy of plant-level load optimal allocation is studied and developed. First of all, bases on the comprehensive consideration of the actual running characteristic of power plants, the curves of standard coal consumption of power supply of units are fitted and analyzed by applying least squares fitting method, also the objective function model of the plant-level load optimal allocation is established. Meanwhile the optimization algorithm which is combined dynamic programming method and equal incremental growth method is used to solve the problem of load optimal distribution. Then, the article analyzes the feasibility and necessity of the plant-level load optimal allocation strategies and studies the basic principle, operation mode, load distribution method, optimization algorithm and control strategy of the optimization strategy. Thus it presents theoretical suggestion for design and implementation of the strategy. Finally, to meet the requirements of the load instruction of grid dispatching center, analysis with specific examples are studied as follows:when the plant-level load optimal allocation strategy is used on actual operation process of power plants, the autonomy and economy of adapting to different load instructions of every unit can be tremendously enhanced. Meanwhile, the strategy can also provide safety and high quality energy for grid, and also reduce production costs of power plant. As a result, the research has achieved its intended goal.
