With the advent of the low carbon economy, more and more attention has been paid to the energy issue. The economic distribution of electrical power load, who plays a more and more important role, has been attached much more importance nowadays. During the process of energy saving in the field of electric power industry, the optimal combination of turbine and boiler of thermal generating set in the light of coal consumption characteristic has been much more concerned. The accuracy and stability of load dispatch algorithm has direct influence on the effect of energy saving of electric power plant and economic dispatch. The way to obtain the amount of coal consumption by thermal system indirect balance method under off-design conditions could make up for lacking of operation data and thermal acceptance test data conditions. The comparison between equal incremental growth and dynamic programming is performed with the obtained data. This paper indicates the limitations of dynamic programming applied in the economic load distribution. Aiming at solving the problem, an improved dynamic programming algorithm is presented in this paper on the basis of data fitting, meanwhile this thesis proposes that the essence of equal incremental principle and dynamic programming based on data fitting is all the same.
