Our nation is currently in a peak period of urban construction, the rapid development of building industry has engendered huge amount of energy consumption. The HVAC system energy consumption takes the main portion in Building operation energy consumption which accounts for70-80percent of building entire life cycle energy consumption. Accomplishing the raise of sustainable development and environmental conservation awareness, the energy saving demand of HVAC system is growing.HVAC system optimal control and fault detection&diagnosis conduct is benefitical to improving performance and energy saving potentiality of HVAC system. The applications of computer, automatic control, communication and etc technology theories, all of which are relative to intelligent buildings field, are needed for optimal control and fault detection&diagnosis research. The research includes obtainment of air conditioning system data from Building Management System and transmittance of control optimized set points to the system, thus realizing the performance analysis, optimal control and fault detection&diagnosis of the air conditioning equipments. In this sense, the rational data communication method is crucial for optimal control and fault detection&diagnosis.In this study, the research object is one air conditioning system in a real office building located in Hong Kong-Cambridge House which was equipped the variable air volume central air conditioning system and Honeywell EBI Building Management System (BMS). Combining the knowledge of Building Automatic system, fieldbus knowledge as well as according to on-site situation of the real system, this study employs Structured Query Language (SQL) and Object Linking and Embedding for Process Control (OPC) technologies for realizing data communication between AHU optimal control software, AHU fault detection&diagnosis software, VAV fault detection&diagnosis software and the BMS.Visual Basic6.0language is used for development of air conditioning system operation data, which are saved in SQL Server in BMS, acquirement program and OPC client program applied for transmitting AHU optimal control setpoints to air conditioning system.
