With Chinese rapid economic development, the increasing of transport industry developed, the increasing scale of highway construction, the rapid increase of traffic volume, as heavy-duty and large vehicles destruction on the road is more and more serious, so ordinary asphalt pavement has not adapted. The large span steel bridge panel orthotropic stress and deformation due to more complex and more demanding of paving materials, the use of ordinary heavy traffic asphalt has not reached the standard, so more and more high-grade highways and steel bridge use polymer modified asphalt pavement surface. Rubber or thermoplastic resin was used in the asphalt to achieve the stiffening of the asphalt obtained and toughening the system, but these polymer modified asphalt in the steel bridge deck due to external forces and the environment under the action of severe damage. In this paper, thermosetting epoxy resin and asphalt blends, prepared a kind of asphalt dispersed in epoxy resin irreversible chemical cross-linked network in the modified asphalt, which can effectively resist external forces and environmental damage. In this paper, the reaction between MAH and asphalt was to change the polarity, so that the compatibility with epoxy resin was good. The modified asphalt was characterized by FTIR and found a new peak of the1857cm-1, the characteristic absorption peak of MAH, indicating that MAH was successfully grafted to the asphalt. The relationship of conversion rate of MAH with MAH addition, reaction time, temperature, initiator DCP dosage was studied by titration. The result shows that the addition level of4%of the MAH, the reaction time was4hours;the temperature was140℃, DCP dosage of a single0.5%of body mass, MAH conversion was the largest in this study. Under optimum conditions, the modified asphalt obtained with the epoxy resin mixture, through the go-between experiments, segregation experiment, fluorescence microscopy to characterize the compatibility; the results show that the compatibility with epoxy resin modified asphalt was greatly improved.Under optimal conditions the modified asphalt obtained4hours after the vacuum and curing agents, additives and then mixed with epoxy resin mixture curing4hours at120℃for preparation of epoxy asphalt. Determined by mechanical properties of epoxy resin curing agent ratio of0.8:1, adding amount of epoxy resin modified asphalt obtained when40%of the epoxy asphalt showed good mechanical properties. Studied by infrared spectroscopy, the curing reaction of epoxy resin, epoxy asphalt in the1734cm-1absorption peak appears, while the characteristic absorption peak of epoxy916cm-1disappeared, which indicating that the epoxy cross linking reaction occurred. In the best epoxy resin and curing agents, asphalt ratio, and the dosage of the best conditions for the obtained tensile strength epoxy asphalt7.4MPa, elongation at break was5.4%, shear strength of3.4MPa, not melt at300℃, under room temperature the water absorption was0.34%.
