Research On The Epoxy Asphalt Binder

With the development of transportation and economic,rapid-increasing traffic and overload,destroy of pavement on highway or orthotropic deck causes more attention on quality of asphalt mixtures. More and more high-level asphalt pavement and steel deck pavement adopt polymer-modified asphalt.Conventional polymer asphalt adopts thermal-plastic polymer or rubber as modifier,which exists in form of particle,thread or network.Under action of load and temperature,these networks will be destoryed.This thesis studied on a kind of polymer asphalt modified with thermoset- ting resin-epoxy resin.The epoxy asphalt is that put the resin-epoxy into asphalt,then put the sclerosant into the mixture form the irreversible thermosetting compound.Contrast to the other modified asphalt,the preparation and applied technique of epoxy asphalt are more complex,there are many problems in the course of preparation and applicatiob that difficult to solve.Now our country are laggard in this field,and the allied technique in the foreign countrys are confidential and patent,make the progress more slowly.This thesis in light of current situation,stand on the domestic technology in hand,take the vast task from the select modifier,preparation to the component design of epoxy asphalt concrete, take the prepatation to future.Firstly,this paper anlysis the advantages and lacks of pure epoxy-resin systems,according to the basic features and bonded material'limitation,from the resin itself,compatibilizer,hardener,flexibilizer,accelerator,coupling agent and asphalt etc from many aspects analysis every material ' s modified mechanism and resin,research the differences of chemical structure,polarity,workability,select suitable compatibilizer,hardener and so on to prepare,ultimately determine the basic formula and methods.Then choose the bisphenol-A epoxy-resin and corresponding acid-anhydride hardener system as the modifier,add this system to asphalt compose the component A,let the epoxy-resin as the component B.When used,put the component A and B stirred uniformly to form the epoxy modified asphalt binder under the prescriptive temperature.Take the evaluate on the binder's performance,such as compatibility,shear strength,tensile strength,bending-deformation capacity,tensile property and so on,also contrast to the other materials; according to requirement of adhesive materials on steel deck pavement carried out the test on the high temperature property,investigate more about this new material ' s usage,put forward the improvement direction in the future.Tn light of the characteristics and the pavement performance of self-made epoxy asphalt,use the rotary viscometer take the tracking measurement on the mixture,using the viscosity-time curve to guide the feeding and paving,preliminarily explore the constraction technique and method on epoxy-asphalt binder.
