China’s auto industry has entered a stage of rapid development, and the car became anindispensable tool in the national production and life. As an important part of the nationaleconomy, the auto industry has successfully stimulated economic growth and socialprogress. In the context of a variety of ways to cooperate with the international company,the only way to become a powerful country in auto industry with advanced technology andcapacity, is that striving to develop the state-owned brands and cars with independentintellectual property rights.Automotive passive safety performance is an important indicator of cars, which theautomotive producers as well as consumers are concerned with. Therefore, the study ofAutomotive passive safety, such as crash analysis, become a very important link in theAutomobile R&D process. Crash analysis in the conceptual design stage can evaluate thecrashworthiness before the the detailed model has been designed, which means to bring theCAE forward that saving human and material costs of crash analysis in later stage. In thispaper, based on the secondary development of the finite element pre-processing softwareHyperMesh, at the stage of carbody conceptual design, the front parameterized model ofvehicle body is built according to the main parameters, crash analysis is taken and thestructure is modified according to the result.Based on the Science and Technology Development Program of Jilin Province“Dual-mode Parameteral Library Building of Car Body Parts and Study of FastOptimization of Crashworthiness”(ID:20126001), and the FAW R&D Center project “Reserch on the Technology of Crashworthiness Parameteral Model of Car”, the mainlystudy includes:(1) A brief overview of the HyperMesh secondary development tools: Tcl/Tk languageas well as Process Studio. And research the method of HyperMesh secondary development.The Tcl/Tk scripts are embedded in a Process Studio program, and used in HyperMeshsecondary development. Extracting the parameter and researching the modeling method ofthe front parameterized model of vehicle body include Bumper Beam, Crashbox, ConectingPlate and Front Rail. Based on the secondary development, the modeling process isautomated in HyperMesh.(2) Reserch the theory of car crashworthiness as well as the finite element solverLs-Dyna. Before the crash analysis, the pre-treatment of parameterized model is taken. Andthe pre-treatment proceess is integrated as a mudule using secondary development tools,and combined with parametric modeling mudule to form a complete module. As soon as themain parameters are inputted, a parametric model under pre-treatment is built. In this paper,based on the data provided by co-operation organization with to create a module to build aparametric model, a parameterized model is built and submitted to Ls-Dyna. The result ofcrash analysis shows that the parameterized model reasonable and meaningful.(3) Based on the quadratic regression analysis with orthogonal experimental design, aresponse surface model is made to reflect the crashworthiness of the parameterized model.Taking the parameters most concerned by co-operation organization as design variables, theresponse surface is optimized using the Genetic Algorithm. In the premise of no weightincreasing to the original structure, the result improves the energy absorption characteristicsof the structure, and effectively reduces the maximum impact force, which means structuralmodifications is Instructive.
