With passenger dedicated lines have been built in recent years, the network of these lines has been formed generally. It is predicted that passenger dedicated line will be built more than sixteen thousand kilometers before2020.As the most important locomotive equipment to finish the missions of passenger transportation, the cost of EMU has a large proportion of equipment investments in passenger dedicated lines because of its high acquisition and maintenance costs. The operation and maintenance for EMU have great significance to eusure the safety and efficient operation of itself. Reasonable arrangements for operation and maintenance can minimize non-productive time of EMU furthest, which can also improve utilization coefficient of EMU. Based on the interchange problem of different EMU Types, it is of gret importance to study the maintenance scheduling planning method for EMU from the point of analyzing the characteristics of this problem.Based on abundant domestic and foreign references.this paper makes systematic analysis and study on planning issues related to the EMU maintenance scheduling, considering about the characteristics of Chinese EMU operation and maintenance. This article describes the distribution of China’s large EMU maintenance bases and analyses their operating processes at first, and then makes specific analysis on the connotation and influencing factors of the maintenance scheduling planning problem for EMU in China. Based on the adaptive analysis of current the maintenance scheduling planning models, this paper constructs a mathematics model for the maintenance scheduling planning on the basis of reasonable circulation of different EMU types, which aims at maximizing the total running miles of EMU before its maintenance and minimizing numbers of EMU needed, considering about constraint conditions of routing coverage, numbers of EMU, reasonable circulation of different EMU types etc. And this model is solved by ant algorithm. In the end,this paper proved the practicability of this model by a example calculating validation, which based on part of EMU routing plan of Wuhan EMU maintenance base.
