On the ground of economic development, the construction of primary and second school has been under a new period of development since the strategy of ’rejuvenating the country through science and education’ has been taken into practice and the popularized of’education for all-round development’. In addition, the investigation on education area has been increased these years. Besides erecting some new schools, renovating old school buildings has also be an important method for providing new school buildings nowadays.Hefei is a city which under a dramatically development period nowadays. Since the urbanization period, lots of primary and second school buildings need to be updated. Nevertheless, there are some problems existed in some schools which located in the downtown area, there are:the buildings in the school and also the facilities for education are aging, at the same time, due to the backward for space, function and environment some schools can not meet the demands on’education for all-round development’ This dissertation discussed the development for primary and second school both in and aboard. The definition for’Suitability renovation’has been summarized in this dissertation. Author divided the renovation for school into three catalogues after did some case studies. There are:new build, maintaining and also Expansion&Renovation.This research focused on Hefei’s situation, the renovation affected by national polices, the concept of education, the society demands, urban structure, population changes and also transportation changes. The principles for campus renovation were summarized. On the ground of the development of campus in Hefei, the method for campus renovation was given based on the further analysis on architecture, planning and environment in the campus. A reasonable method for campus renovation would be found out.
