Condition Based Maintenance is a predictable maintenance mode which uses equipmentstatus as the basis and the development trend of device status as the main content. It caneffectively avoid the disadvantages of the trouble shooting and periodic maintenance, and is anideal way to examine and repair. With the application of primary equipment condition basedmaintenance and the popularization of the technology of line not power maintenance, the powerfailure time caused by the equipment repair is shorter and shorter. As an important part of theequipment maintenance of the power system, the relay protection device maintenance shouldmeet the need of the development of the power system, which put forward higher requirementsto the equipment maintenance.The risk assessment of the relay protection device studied by the article is based on givingfull play to the respective advantages of the equipment state monitoring technology and theequipment self diagnosis technology, which integrates the records of the operational status ofthe relay equipment and the maintenance history data, evaluates the relay protection devicestatus correctly, and then provides objective and reliable basis and reference for the scientificarrangement of the maintenance time, maintenance projects and maintenance plan.The article firstly reviews the development of electrical equipment maintenance status andthe situation of domestic and international maintenance, then explains the connotation of therelay equipment condition-based maintenance, and analyses the feasibility and necessity of theimplementation of the relay equipment, and then introduces the session of condition-basedmaintenance, and lastly designs the basic process framework of relay equipmentcondition-based maintenance.By means of collecting the relational data, the specific analysis of construction andperformance of the testing equipment, combined with arranging of the fault type and faulthandling measures, and extraction of data and fixed-line monitoring inspection programs, etc., ithas proposed a secondary relay equipment condition evaluation mode based on AHP. Theevaluation model turn the relay protection equipment into a multi-level, multi-criteria system,which analyses the status of the relay protection equipment from the five aspects of theinfrastructure project, the scheduled maintenance project, the on-line monitoring project, thebad operation condition, and the family defect, and calculates the weight of each project and thesubproject, and then formulates the relevant rating strategy for each project, and lastly gives theequipment an intuitive state score. Based on the state assessment, the article uses AHP, combined with the possible loss assetsof equipment, to make a risk assessment of relay protection equipment and calculate the riskvalues. According to the evaluation results of device status and the category of the equipmentstatus, it formulates an overall maintenance strategy and corresponding maintenance cycle, andmeanwhile gives the corresponding evaluation and the recommended maintenance modeaccording to the rating situation of each subproject.
