Fire is always a disaster which threatens people’s personal security and property security.Every time when there is a fire, we might have to bear incalculable physical and mentalinjuries. During recent years, as our country’s economy develops at a fast speed, fire, thedisaster out of human beings’ activities, also develops a harmful trend that increasinglyfrequent and destructive fires occur. Such a serious situation brings out more strictrequirements for the current fire prevention and controlling system. In particular, within the unique context of university, the infrastructure and the wholecampus area expand at a large scale as the enrollment grows and the university’s total numberincreases as well. The old fire automatic alarm system, local and low-automatic-rate, can’tcomply with the new demand. So that a package of systematic and artificial fire automaticalarm and fire-fighting linkage system are born to promise a better protective function fromcollege fires. Therefore, this design has chosen the university library as the case study todesign a new fire automatic alarm system and fire-fighting linkage control system. In the first place, this paper looks into the current state of the increasingly damagingoutcomes that campus fires brought to us, and then raises the statement for the importance ofdesigning a fire automatic alarm and fire-fighting linkage control system for universitylibraries. The system is designed on the basis of combining several national fire fighting’sstandard requirements and the practical needs of the campus library fire-fighting tasks. Themajor accomplishments of the study are as follows. Firstly, the system structure is completedand the functions and mutual relationships of each sub-systems are clarified by a picture ofthe system structure; secondly, each sub-system is studied deeply to draw the fire-fightingplan according to the building layout; thirdly, a specific design for each facility of the systemis singled out, with the designing difficulty rising and the working principles being workedthrough; lastly, the final step is to make a flexible and efficiency design for the linkage controlof all the sub-systems.This study proposes a concrete scheme for practical instructions in the college libraryfire-fighting system design and site construction. So far, after several alternations, theconstruction design has been applied in the operation at the site and reached good applicationresults.
