In recent decades, the continuous development and expansion of the city leading to declining agricultural and forest lands and habitat. What’s worse, the gradual increase of impervious material area, the rain can not complete the virtuous circle, resulting in urban flood and drought occur annually in the the city that leading to a serious security threat for the residents. Based on thinking of these issues, many countries are exploring a similar to the natural way to enhance the water cycle, access to sustainable symbiosis between man and nature.As a result, rain gardens came into being, which has become the focus of city builders and planners to explore.Now,the rain garden is widely used in foreign countries and urban residential area, parks, schools, streets, urban greening, etc., which produced some amazing results in enormous ecological and economic benefits. Rain gardens started late in China, and it had a small number of successful project cases, especially about combining with rain gardens and landscape case. Therefore, we made the shortage of water resources for the lead in this paper, and took the Bai Buting King Lanyuan district for example, analysis of the feasibility of the residential area to the construction of rain gardens from the ecological, economic, and social function. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Global water resources are extremely tight, the rapid development of urbanization is exacerbated by the global demand for water,to solve water scarcity become an important way for the world.Construction of rain gardens is one of the most direct, most economical, most convenient rainwater utilization.(2) Make elaborate of the concept, origin, development, domestic and international research and related cases of the rain garden, summed up the rain garden with economic, efficient and simple construction, easy maintenance, landscape effect, small footprint, application forms of flexible features.The rain garden can be widely used in the road green belt, parkland, residential areas, parking lots, street walkers, public buildings.(3) By the nearly fifty years of rainfall data analysis of Wuhan City shows that:Its rain resources is rich and the annual rainfall is1269mm;Count shows, Wuhan, rainwater resources total about4.705billion cubic meters of rainwater utilization potential.Finally, take Bai Buting King Lanyuan for example, try to combine the rain gardens and residential landscape design, according to the district’s economic and technical indicators and water balance calculated:The rain Garden should be district an area of24500m2in King Lanyuan, and it can be collected the amount for83653m3during one year’s rainfall, the water demands of King Lanyuan residential is63252m3, rain output is more larger than input.
