Evaluation And Research On Carrying Capacity Of Urban Infrastructure Of Mid-southern Liaoning Urban Agglomerations

Urban infrastructure is the material basis of the existence and development of the city,and the basic condition of citizen’s life. The constant accelerated process of urbanizationbrings pressure to the urban infrastructure, and affects the normal and orderly development ofthe city. The carrying capacity of urban infrastructure is closely related to the sustainabledevelopment of the city. It is not only related to the city’s development in the future, but alsorelated to the goal of sustainable development of other cities, so the research on the carryingcapacity of urban infrastructure is particularly important.Mid-southern Liaoning urban agglomerations is a comparatively concentrated area ofadministration, scientific research, technology and industry in Northeast China. Research onthe carrying capacity of urban infrastructure of mid-southern Liaoning urban agglomerationsand promote the sustainable development of this area is not only the requirement ofestablishing a reasonable city system, but also the strategic needs to revitalize the oldindustrial base in Northeast China.This paper selects the comparatively fast developing mid-southern Liaoning urbanagglomerations as the research object, in view of the development status of the urbaninfrastructure, constructing the evaluation index system of urban infrastructure from14indices selected from5aspects including energy system, water system, the road traffic system,telecommunications system and environment system, collecting data of mid-southernLiaoning urban agglomerations from2001to2009, using the Principal Component Analysis(PCA) to evaluate and analyze the carrying capacity of urban infrastructure and classify thecity infrastructure’s carrying status of mid-southern Liaoning urban agglomerationsaccording to the results, and on this basis, proposing measures to improve the carryingcapacity of urban infrastructure of mid-southern Liaoning urban agglomerations.Conclusion:(1) The urban infrastructure’s carrying status of mid-southern Liaoningurban agglomerations is divided into three types: high carrying status, balance carrying statusand low carrying status. The high carrying status city includes Shenyang, Dalian and Anshan;the balance carrying status city includes Benxi, Fushun, Liaoyang and Yingkou; the lowcarrying status city includes Tieling, Dandong and Panjin.(2) The carrying capacity ofinfrastructure of mid-southern Liaoning urban agglomerations has experienced rising phase(2002-2005), declining phase (2005-2006), and later fast rising phase (2007-2009) throughout time change. It is believed that the carrying capacity of urban infrastructure of mid-southernLiaoning urban agglomerations will have a better development over the next few years.
