Demand Side Management(DSM) is an important part of Integrated Resource Planning(IRP), and it is implemented as an advanced management method in the world nowadays. With the rapid development of economy and society, doing a research on the application of power demand side management in smart grid, not only can ease the tense situation of our country’s electricity, but also better promote sustainable economic and social development, especially for the development of electricity enterprise. This article focuses on the applications of power demand side management with smart grid. First to introduce the basic concepts of demand side management and smart grid and the applications of them, and the difference of the traditional DSM methods and the one improved in smart grid has been talked about. After that, a multiple model of demand side management in smart grid has been established. It has four tariff models to use, including real-time sales price model, power suppliers reserve price model, intelligent devices compensate price model and the energy storage devices to the internet price model. It uses them to dynamically adjust the load demand. And then, we have deduced a series of indicators of economic significance for demand side management. Finally, with the help of MATLAB, using standard test of IEEE30node system, we do the simulation analysis and benefit analysis of the DSM model. The final conclusion is that DSM in smart grid can bring economic benefits, environmental benefits and the overall benefits to the participants in the electricity market.
