The demand for electric power in Guangzhou increases fast, which puts a large pressureon power grid construction and power marketing. To solve this problem, can not only developthe power construction,we have to also solve relevant problems in power generation, powersupply, and power utilization. Power demand side management is an important means tosolve the contradiction of supply and demand. The development of new technology of thesmart grid is to improve the level of power demand side management.The traditional power demand side management focus on the supply side, the measurestaken is expanding the scale of power grid to meet user needs. Under the framework of thesmart grid, the power demand side management will pay more attention to informationinteraction between the power supply and power consumer. Accurate, real-time, fast,conveniently to obtain information in detail of the demand side is required. So the powerdemand side management system is very necessary, which is the foundation of electricitysettlement, monitoring power load, efficiency analysis, demand response technology.This paper first analyzed the necessity of intelligent demand side management system inthe intense situation between power demand and supply in Guangzhou, and then researchedthe design of system architecture, function and the technology. System hardware includesintelligent collector, communication terminal and the main station, service module includessupply side demand management subsystem, user side demand management and demandresponse subsystem.This paper made a useful exploration on the construction and plan of intelligent demandside management system. it contributed to promote the application of power demand sidemanagement in Guangzhou City, to alleviate the current power shortage situation.
