The Basic Research In The Preservation Of Chinese Recentpast Architecture

The object of this paper is to fill up a vacancy of the preservation of ChineseRecentpast architecture, and to find an affirmative approach to the problem.There are many concepts about the preservation about the young architecture inthe world, such as Modern architecture movement,20th Century Heritage,contemporary. First of all, the writer proposes a word “Recentpast architecture”combined with Chinese architecture context. Then, the importance of the preservationof Recentpast architecture is reflected in three aspects, the situation of “short-life”architecture, continuation of the traditional culture and urban diversity. But theresearch in the preservation of Chinese Recentpast architecture is still short. At thebeginning of this research, we should establish a comprehensive awareness betweenthe academic and the public as soon as possible. Second, we should study thedevelopment process of the preservation mode and some specialized mature casesform the world. Third, on the basis of previous research as well as the study ofChinese circumstance architecture development， we can establish a Chinesepreservation evaluation system. Finally, we must make the preservation of Recentpastarchitecture under the standardized management.In the second chapter, the author makes a general introduction and interior studyof DOCOMOMO and20thcentury heritage which are two overall and better knownconcepts among many others. The main researches of DOCOMOMO are about themode of their organization and development, their major work, activities, andregulations. At the same time, focus on two chapters, Argentina and Japan which aregood models for China. On20thcentury heritage, the author commits to the history ofit, and the "Montreal Plan", the "Moscow Declaration ".In the third chapter, specific case is chosen to analyse from each DOCOMOMOand20thcentury heritage. Sydney Opera House became one of the World CulturalHeritage in2007, as the youngest20th century heritage in the history. Bell Labsdesigned by Eero Saarinen was approved by DOCOMOMO. DOCOMOMO made areused plan to preserve the unique building. Combined with the cases and the historyof Chinese Recentpast development, the author tries to provide scientific basis for thepreservation evaluation system. From some books about Recentpat architecture whichhave more completely describtion and larger collection, the author selects a few potential targets on the ground of the preservation evaluation system. After finisheddescanting the targets, the author makes an electronic overview sheet for otherarchitectures that are also worthy of the preservation.The preservation of Rencentpast architecture is different from the Ancientarchitecture and the Modern architecture. At the end of this paper, the profoundinfluence and realistic significance of it is be analyzed and discussed.
