Nowadays, with the rapid development of economy and culture, the traffic jam incity becomes more and more serious. Thus, the problem of urban transportation hasdrawn broad attention of society. In the past decades, the urban transportation inmetropolises across China turns to public transportation gradually. At the same time,the government adopts corresponding policies to support the public bus industry. Asthe window of social service, the service level of public bus is relevant withproductivity and our daily life. Besides, it constrains the harmonious and healthydevelopment of our society to some extent.In such background, this thesis researches and analyzes the urban regular busservice. By comparing the public bus service home and abroad, we find out there’resome problems on the establishment of index system and the application of relevantmethods in common. During the screening of indexes, we lack of effective means andevidences, then the index system we establish is incomplete. In this thesis, we comeup with solutions to improve it.Firstly, this thesis concludes that the level of network layout and passengercapacity are the two major factors to service level of regular public bus by analyzingthe urban public bus service system. Then, make decision analysis with the help ofRough Set Theory to get the main impact index. When give a comprehensiveassessment of index system, we adopt the methods of satisfaction survey and set pairanalysis. Since the application of set pair analysis can determine systematically therank of public bus system and difference between each index, the combined usage ofthese two methods can eliminate the subjectivity to a large extent, increasing use ratioof evaluation information and reliability of assessing structure,they offer new ways toevaluate the service level of urban public bus. Lastly, the thesis analyzes the urban public bus service level of Dun Hua as anexample on aspects of index system and evaluation methods. We adopt the method ofRough Set Theory to make the decision analysis on network layout level and find outthe network density is the greatest factor to the service level of public bus. Thus, thisthesis takes security, punctuality, comfortability, convenience, cost and extensivenessto establish the evaluation index system of Dun Hua’s Public bus service level. Byapplying the methods of satisfaction survey and set pair analysis, we get the consistentevaluation results, which show the service level of Dun Hua’s public bus is prettyhigh. But we need improvement on convenience and cost. Then, we present solutionson how to improve the Dun Hua’s public bus service level.
