The Vessel Traffic Capacity In Laotieshan Channel

The calculation of the vessel traffic capacity in a channel is an important basic work in the design and construction of ports. During the past years, with the economic developing, the number of the ships in or out of ports continuing to increase, types of vessels being various, as well as the transport network between different ports and traffic flow increasingly complex and volatile, makes the pressure of original busy waterway doubled. Laotieshan Channel as the ship in or out of the Bohai Sea port cluster supporting waterway, is the lifeline of many ports, which plays a crucial impact on the economic development of the ports, and therefore its ability becomes an important concern of management department.This thesis first systematically searches all the study of passing capacity at home and abroad from two major aspects of the formula and computer simulation, carrying out a detailed comparative analysis of inland waterways and port channel passing capacity. Combined with definition and classification of different types of traffic capacity in maritime traffic engineering, this paper explores the various factors to determine the capacity of the Laotieshan Channel. The focus of this study, will be locked in the selection of the ship domain model. The selection is based on the actual condition of Laotieshan channel, collecting AIS data of the sailing ships from2012-2013, and then it uses Matlab software to simulate the information, analyzing out the specific ship behaviors, and researches the domain model for each specific behavior type. Finally, this paper identifies a variety of influencing factors so as to calculate the navigable capacity of Laotieshan channel.Through analysis of ship behaviors in Laotieshan Channel and the actual channel conditions and natural conditions the research determines the navigable capacity of the waterways. The study for enriching the theories and methods of passing capacity has a certain value, and it also has a positive effect for construction of ports near Laotieshan waterways.
