For a long time, ship motion and main engine propulsion system is controlled completely independently. There have been few scholars studying both integrated. Moreover, there is a lack of effective simulation platform for integrated control. Therefore, based on ship bridge configuration, combining with software simulation technology and using the idea of hardware in loop simulation, select some physical devices used in the ship to design and establish a kind of ship motion and main engine propulsion integrated control simulation system.Firstly, this paper takes5446TEU container ship as the research object. Considering the coupling between ship motion and main engine propulsion, the model of ship motion and main engine propulsion system is established, and maneuverability, turning test are verified in Matlab. The simulation results show that, the speed of ship and main engine coincides with the actual data obtained from ship trial.Based on ship bridge configuration, the physical devices that used in the ship, such as telegraph, steering wheel, compass repeater and electronic chart, are selected to design the hardware console. At the same time, according to the working mode of the autopilot, three kinds of control modes including manual mode, follow-up mode and automatic mode are designed for the simulation system. The hardware connection of simulation system is completed, and the data collection and data communication of simulation system is accomplished. Then, the hardware platform is established.Then, calling Matlab simulation model that meets the ship model real-time calculation of simulation system is accomplished by using VC and Matlab mixed programming technology. Ship3D motion scene that meets the real-time observation of ship motion attitude is introduced into the simulation system by using VC and Vega mixed programming technology. The friendly interface of man-machine interaction software is designed and established, and the software operation platform is established. Software and hardware switching operation is accomplished.Finally, in the software operation mode and hardware operation mode, the three kinds of control modes including manual mode, follow-up mode and automatic mode are tested respectively. According to the operation instruction, simulation system runs normally. The test results show that the simulation system has perfect function, high degree of realism, optional operation modes and all-sided control modes. This simulation system meets the requirements of simulation driving and study on integrated control. The simulation system provides a platform for the research of integrated control algorithm of ship motion and main engine propulsion, and can be applied to the teaching of ship maneuvering training.
