Distribution network is the final and key stage in the delivery of electricity to end users. More and more concern is drawn on the construction of distribution network. It is a trend to use IEC61850in modeling of intelligent FTU. Realizing the distributed intelligent protection function of FTU is significant to the reliability of power supply.The paper analyzes the control mode of distribution automation system and the function of FTU, studies mainly on communication between FTUs and distribution automation station and peer-to-peer communication between FTUs, establishes the information model of FTU based on IEC60850standard. The SCL configuration file of FTU and the mapping from IEC61850CDC data to IEC60870-5-104is established. FTU uses MMS(Manufacturing Message Specification) to exchange information with the distribution automation station, the peer-to-peer communication between FTUs is realized using IEC60870-5-104standard. FTUs exchange the real-time information, realizes fault detection isolation and recovery function according to longitudinal differential current protection principle.Hardware platform uses Freescale’s32-bit MCF5272processor and Texas Instruments’TMS320C6713DSP processor, the software platform uses the real-time and multi-tasking operating system Vx Works of Wind River. The MMS-EASE Lite of SISCO is transplanted to realize the communication between FTU and distribution automation station. FTU uses the Mini-XML to parse the mapping information between IEC61850and IEC60780-5-104, uses IEC60870-5-104to exchange real-time information and realize the fault detection isolation and recovery function according to longitudinal differential current protection principle.The communication function of FTU is verified by the testing system. The FTU can exchange information with distribution automation station using MMS, exchange real-time information using IEC60870-5-104, realize fault detection isolation and recovery function in a simple distribution network.
