Heat supplying of residential building in the northern area is the key aspact of buildingenergy saving. Existing residential building heat metering and energy efficiency retrofit cannot only help to reduce energy-saving emission, but improve the people’s livelihood andsocial and economic effect. So a route of application for existing residential building heatmetering that suitable for our country should be concluded.In this paper, existing buildings and consumption situation of them, as well as buildingheat metering retrofit development at home and abroad were analyzed. Through the basicprinciple and method of heat metering were analyzed, heating metering equipment andmethod of different starting points and ways were discussed. Then principle, classification anduse characteristics of some kinds of heat metering equipments were specifically analyzed.Principle and application scope of four kinds of household heat measurement that commonlyused in China were introduced respectively by contrast.Secondly, heating system, characteristics and problems that commonly existed in theexisting building of our country were analyzed. According to those problems and practicalsituation, principle and purpose of existing building heat metering retrofit were put forward.On this principle, some schemes commonly used for existing building heating measurementretrofit were put forward, too. In this paper, two kinds of heat metering retrofit and calculationmethods, on which a lot of emphases were laid, were mainly discussed, including: retrofit andload calculation method, flow-in coefficient and heat emission in vertical single-pipecross-over heating system; selection of temperature valve and Hydraulic Characteristicsbefore and after retrofit in vertical double-pipe heating system with temperature valve.Results in this paper can provide support for the heating metering retrofit of existing building.Finally, testing methods of existing building heating metering after retrofit was discussed,and some evaluation indicators were proposed, such as mandatory, energy saving rate andeconomic indicators. For typical residential building in Northern China, every phases ofenergy consumption before and after building heating metering retrofit were simulated byDEST-h software, and then the energy saving rate was calculated. By the simulating data,non-energy-efficient buildings whose energy consumption and heating metering wereretrofitted to65%standards,as well as the existing new energy-saving building of65%standards, whose building envelopes and heating systems were not retrofitted, may achievehigher energy savings effect to75%by means of enhancing the user’s self-regulation. Existingbuildings of50%mandatory standards, can achieve65%target. However, the higher targetcan hardly be acheved if the performance of building envelope insulation were not improved.Results in this article have a positive effect on existing residential buildings heatingmetering retrofit and energy-saving efficiency analysis.
