The ship main engine remote control system refers to the remote control of the ship main power device, that the manipulation of host location extends from the local to the ECR and bridge. The main engine remote control system is an important control system to ensure the safe and stable operation of main engine, and it’s an important part of the engine room automation. The purpose of this thesis is to study and realize a hardware in loop simulation system for the remote control simulation device of the marine propulsion of twin-diesel engine.This paper firstly designs the system framework for the remote control simulation device of the twin-diesel engine based on PLC. Among this, the right main engine control console is designed based on PLC, and the left main engine simulation control system is designed based on computer simulation technology.Secondly, the functions of bridge, ECR, local and the simulation test console of main engine which compose the right engine are developed. The functions such as the monitor of system parameter values and the alarm query are configurated in the touch screen. By adopting distributed control method in STEP7-Micro/WIN software, the functions of the remote control system are developed into instruction libraries and subprogram modules which can be invoked by each other, and also the development of PPI communication subprogram is completed. The debugging of electronic governor and inverter are finished by using the "Watch Window" software and BOP panel respectively. The algorithms such as fuzzy PID control realized in PLC are introduced into the main engine speed control system. After all these, the development of the main engine remote control system based on PLC is completed.Finally, a mathematical model for medium-speed diesel engine propulsion system is established using the Matlab/Simulink software platform. By using Matlab RTW toolbox and Matlab engine, The Microsoft Visual C++realizes the invocation of the Simulink model. By employing AutoChief C20as the study object, a series of system functions that include the bridge, local and diesel animation is developed in VC++environment. After all these, the development of the main engine remote control system based on computer simulation technology is completed. The developed simulation device for the marine propulsion of twin-diesel engine can realize most of the functions, such as operation place conversion function, logic control function, speed and load control function, safety protection and emergency control function, telegraph system function, etc. It also sets up a platform for exploring the advanced control algorithms of the marine propulsion of twin-diesel engine and training mariners’ability of practical operation in the laboratory environment.
