Sluice can be opend/closed, it is a kind of low head hydraulic structure whose functions are controlling the water of draining and flushing, It also plays an important role in flood controlling, water supplying, shipping, power generation, drainage, breeding, tourism, ecological environment protection. However, due to the long-term effects of load,environment, and the lack of management, many sluices have serious safety problems. In recent ten years.In order to eliminate the sluices disease, restore the original function, China the has carried out a lot of reinforcement work about sluices, and the sluice safety assessment is the basis and important part of the sluice maintenance and reinforcement work. Therefore, this article on the basis of summarizing the relevant research results at home and abroad, combined with the actual situation in our country, studied and practiced the safety appraisal of sluices technology,the main contents include:(1) In combination with the relevant specification, codes and regulations of the safety appraisal of sluices,we summarized the content and procedures, etc. of the safety appraisal of sluices systematically.(2) We estimate for the safety of a certain sluice, it contents:①to analyze the investigation result on current project status of a certain sluice;②to proceed site security detection of a certain sluice;③to give a general assessment about the security status of a certain sluice;(④to summarize the safety appraisal work about a certain sluice, to provide a basis for setting up the decision of maintenance and renovation to a certain sluice.(3) Based on project practice, to analyze the applicability of the current relevant standards and regulations about the safety appraisal of sluices, to research and inquire all kinds of questions encountered in the practical process of the safety appraisal of sluices, and give appropriate measures.
