In recent years, people are not only satisfied the construction area and using function, but also has put forward the higher requirements for the comprehensive quality such as safety, comfort, beauty, and economy. Emerging as the times require, special-shaped column structures have been used widely on the basis of this. Because of irregularity of cross-section, under the action of earthquakes special-shaped column frame structures are likely to exhibit the seismic response different from the rectangular column frame structures. So studying on the seismic performance of special-shaped column frame structures is necessary.This paper introduces the basic concepts and the designing principles of special-shaped column structure. This paper establishes three finite element models (the special-shaped column structure, rectangular column structure with the equal area and rectangular column structure with the moment of inertia) by using the SAP2000. And the basic dynamic properties of the three structures are analyzed. It is base of the dynamic analysis for the structure. Then, the paper analyzes the elastic seismic performance under the horizontal earthquake action by using the vibration spectrum method and elastic time-history method for the three structural models for. The results show that three models are in the elastic steps. We can analyze in the different responses the three kinds of models. Finally, this paper analyzes the static elasto-plastic performance of the three models using Pushover method. And it analyzes compared these three kinds of structure earthquake bombs in the rare plastic seismic performance. Then, it focuses on the influence of layers and span on seismic behavior of special-shaped column frame structure.With the results of this study, we hope to provide help for the designing and seismic analysis of the similar structures.
