With the rapid economic development, China’s urbanization process is further accelerated; the rapid increase of urban population will inevitably lead to the growth of the trips. In case of the scarce land resources, city traffic problem has been the bottleneck of restricting city development. Compared to other vehicles in the cities, the subway has the advantages of large capacity and high speed. However, due to the subway buried underground, the relatively closed environment and the big passenger volume, an accident can cause huge losses of lives and property and bad social influence if not properly handled. Therefore, it has important significance to evaluate the safety of subway operation and find the weak links, and then take any efficient measures in advance to nip the possible accidents in the bud to prevent accidents. Work and research conclusions in this paper are as follows:1. The subway is a huge and complex system and it is affected by many factors. The key to solve the problem of the subway operation safety evaluation properly is the construction of a scientific operation safety evaluation index system. In this paper, the main factors affecting the safety of subway operation are identified through the subway risk factors identification at home and abroad. On the base of that, a more systematic and comprehensive evaluation index system suitable for our country is built.2. Each index weight is calculated by Delphi method and analytic hierarchy process method. With extension evaluation method as the core, basic concepts of matter-element theory and correlation function are analyzed and applied to the study of urban subway operation safety evaluation and the multi-level extension evaluation model for subway operation safety is built.3. The first phase of Chengdu Metro Line1is studied as an example. The risk degree of the line is determined by multi-level extension evaluation model and countermeasures are proposed of the high risk level of subsystem based on the evaluation result.
