Staphylea bumalda is a potential energy source plant. Not only it contents high quality qualitity oil, but also it grows fast and highly resistant to nature disaster. This study choose plantations in Lu jiang and Shi tai of Anhui province and intense to fill the blanks in the researching fields and to establish a base for the resource utilization. The main results were as following:1、Based on Investigation of Staphylea bumalda resources in Anhui. The criterion of plus-tree selection was established. A measure of seed productivity, dry kernel ratio, dry seed yield and oil yield were the major targets, other indicators were tree growth, fruit characters and so on. Trees have growing luxuriantly, equal fruit size, a measure of seed productivity are above0.15kg, dry seed yield are above15%, dry kernel ratio are above48%and oil yield are above35%.2、The9plus-trees from the main distribution area in Anhui were selected. The plus trees had superior characteristics such as high fruit yield, high-oil content and resistance to nature disaster. A measure of seed productivity are0.16~0.22kg/㎡, the average is0.19kg/㎡, dry seed yield are15.6%~33.6%, the average is21.98%, dry kernel ratio are47.0%~53.6%, the average is42.9%, they have high oil content.3、Plus-tree characters have been noticeably improved. Number. of every fruit, middle line fruit length and every fruit seeds improved36.46%、33.01%and32.87%.They are improved most. The other is fruit length, it improved14.86%. Plus-tree fruit characters were stability in the year of2009and2010.4、The curve of diurnal variation of photosynthesis demonstrated two peaks. They were at9:30AM and13:30PM respectively, There was a obvious depression noon hour. The light saturation and compensation points, and apparent quantum yield of Staphylea bumalda were about1350and43μmol m-2 s-1, and0.062μmol m-2 s-1 respectively. It is a shade-resistant and masculine plant, can adapt to variety shines.5、The experiments on sowing showed that the most suitable sowing time was in December and come out in the following April. It has a number of advantages,emergence period is short, come out evenly and growth higher. IThere was a quick growth from June to August. Therefore, the period was the key time in the water-fertilizer management of the seedlings owing to their significant growth and straight stock.
