Side effects of herbicides and increasing prevalence of organic farming induce the need of further developments in mechanical weed control.In order to fulfill the weeding requirements of nursery garden, a type of weeding machine is designed. On the basis of existing weeding machine, a new structure of this machine is presented which mainly consist of Automated Guided Vehicle, intra-row weeding and inter-row weeding.Through analyzing the movement of intra-row weeding machine’s blade, the motion corresponds to the law of cycloid curve. At the same time the influence of the blade’s key parameters on the effect of weed control is analyzed, the optimal rotation speed has been calculated.To put the weeding machine in working order, two steering schemes are put forward. One is the differential steering and the other is hybrid motion between pivot steering and rectilinear motion. The kinematics analysis of machine is proposed by ADAMS, the result meets the requirements of moving.The motion of the intra-row weeding machine has been simulated by ADAMS, nursery-grown plants aren’t harmed by blade, which means the trajectory of the blade suffices requirements of the design.The Finite Element Analysis(FBA) method has been used to conduct the static analysis and model analysis on the key components of the whole system, the results showed that the strength and stiffness met the mechanical requirements.
