The Study Of The Expression And Significance Of Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen And Silver—Staining Nucleolar Organizer Regions In Hepatocellular Carcinoma(HCC)

Objective:To research the expression and significance of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and Silver—Staining nucleolar organizer regions(AgNOR) in Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and find the relationship with its biological behavior.Methods:It was used that immunohistochemical technique to examine the expression of PCNA and image analysis technique for the AgNOR counts in67case patients of HCC.Results:(1Significant difference in the proliferation index of PCNA were found among the various degree of diferentiation of HCC(P<0.01).Significant difference in the AgNOR couts were found between the higher differentiation group and lower differentiation group, between the middle differentiation group and lower differentiation group(p<0.01).(2)Significant difference in the proliferation index of PCNA was found beteen the group of less3cm and the group of longer than5cm(P<0.05).Significant difference in the AgNOR couts were found among the various groups of the tumor size(P<0.05).(3)Significant difference in the proliferation index of PCNA were found between the group of less than six months and the group of more than2years, between the group of six months to2years and the group of more than2years(p <0.05).Significant difference in the AgNOR couts were found between the group of less than six months and the group of more than2years, between the group of six months to2years and the group of less than six months(p<0.01).(4)The proliferation index of PCNA positively correlated with AgNOR counts in HCC(p<0.05).Conclusion:The results suggest that a combining study of these two indexes may be helpful to detect the proliferating stages of cancer cells and assess biological behavior and the prognosis of HCC.
