Objective:To Study the effect of Octreotide(OA)intravitreal injection on rabbit retinal tissuestructure and function.Methods:Thirty-two healthy color adult rabbits were randomly divided into three experimentalgroups and one control group. The right eyes were the experimental eyes.Intraviteal injection ofOctreotide of the experimental group is0.2mg、0.4mg、0.8mg respectively.Intravitreal injectionof the control group is0.1ml compound sodium chloride. All experimental animal for intraocularpressure, slit lamp, direct ophthalmoscope fundus and ERG examination before injection andafter injection of1,2,4weeks.The experimental eyes were taken after injection at4weeks.Theretinal structure were observed under light and electron microscope. Results:The experimental group and the control group showed no anterior segment and thefundus abnormality.Retinal structure showed no obvious abnormality under light and electronmicroscope.ERG-b wave amplitude decreased slightly1week after injection of the decline inexperimental groups, showed no significant difference.ERG-b wave amplitude recovered to thelevel before injection at4weeks.Couclusion:Injection of OA<0.8mg(including0.8mg)into vitreous chamber is relatively safe.
